Our Genetic Project

Welcome to our dedicated section for our ongoing genetic project. This project is a joint effort between Semmelweis University, partner universities nationwide, and our industry partner, aiming to streamline and standardize the process of identifying, referring, genetic testing, and managing patients with suspected autoinflammatory diseases in Hungary.

Overview of the Genetic Project

Our genetic project is a research initiative focused on studying the genetic basis of autoinflammatory diseases. The project operates on a collaborative decisionmaking principle, providing a balanced and comprehensive approach to patient care. The project also includes provisions for genetic counseling at the referral centers before testing and when communicating the results.

Our genetic project has several key objectives:

Identify Potential Patients

General practitioners play a crucial role in identifying potential patients with symptoms of autoinflammatory diseases and referring these patients to the appropriate specialists.

Evaluate Referred Patients

Pediatric and adult rheumatologists at Semmelweis University and rheumatology clinics at partner universities evaluate referred patients for potential autoinflammatory diseases and refer patients for genetic testing when necessary.

Genetic Counseling

Genetic counseling teams conduct pre- and posttest genetic counseling sessions with patients and caregivers, explaining the purpose, process, and implications of genetic testing to patients and communicating the results of gene testing clearly and understandably.

Genetic Testing

The Genetic Testing Laboratory at Semmelweis University processes samples sent from referral centers and provides accurate and timely genetic results.

How to Collaborate

We welcome and appreciate the collaboration of physicians in our genetic project. By referring your patients to our project or contributing your expertise, you can help advance our understanding of autoinflammatory diseases and contribute to the development of new treatments.

If you’re a physician from one of our partner universities, you can refer patients for genetic testing through our project. To do so, please fill out our Registration and Consent Form.
